Certification Class

Classes have been extended one day to allow for more hands-on training with these exceptional plasters from Texston. Large scale surfaces are used as training to increase confidence and expertise. You will also have a complete sample portfolio of Texston plasters to take away.

Many people are starting to understand that the skilled application of Venetian Plasters is not intuitive and without proper instruction, the true depth and beauty of these plasters will never be realized.

In our exclusive limited enrollment workshops, you will discover the incredible European plastering techniques from a master craftsmen.

You will learn about the proper use of the ancient Northern Italian plaster art form that effectively transforms any wall - interior or exterior - into a modern work of art with paste compounds of marble, lime, sea sand and cement. Walls can appear rugged and historical or modern and contemporary. Take advantage of our studio's extensive training, knowledge and skill. In our 3 day hand-on workshop, you will create your very own portfolio of samples.

Certification Course

Includes all materials and we pick up lunch. The Certification course covers decorative artistic and plaster finishes during 3 days of intensive training that also includes lectures, printed hand-outs and hands-on application of all five natural plasters. This is the perfect course for Faux Finishers and Painting Contractors who want to learn the basic applications and professional tips for handling each of these marvelous plasters. A Certification document is issued and mailed upon the successful completion of the course. This class combines lectures, demonstration and hands-on training of each of the five plasters. You will learn basic application techniques as well as decorative finishes using color washes, waxes, etc.

The goal of this class is not to force you into a particular style, but to have you understand the working qualities of each plaster so that you can use these methods and develop your own style.

Class Information:

Those of you who have been to our studio know that we are neither product-based nor a franchise studio. This class is an exception with the plasters from Texston. Learning the names of all these plasters is daunting enough without switching manufacturers. Beside the fact that nobody else comes close to the variety, quality, choice of beautiful colors or professional support that Texston offers. Dean Sickler, who teaches the class, has the only Master Installer and Instructor Certification from the manufacturer on the East Coast.

Venetian plaster instruction

Veneciano

This plaster produces a smooth marble-like surface with translucent properties that provide a natural glamor to any interior surface. It is exceptionally durable and can be applied very thin because of its high coating capacity. The range of colors and combinations are limitless.

Tuscany

Tuscany is also a cementatious plaster but the aggregate is much larger. This allows you to build the plaster up to 1/2" thick in a single applications. You can achieve a very pitted look similiar to limestone and this plaster is easy to carve for up to 2 days after application.

Terra

Terra is a cement-based powder coating that contains choice iron oxide pigments that are particularly suited for outdoor conditions. Its texture and color variations are wonderful on garden walls to office buildings. Terra contains unique polymer glues which contribute to its superb adhesion, workability and improved flexability. This prevents cracks and repels water yet allows the wall to breathe.
