I hear about, see and experiment all the time with avant garde
techniques and materials that are the talk of New York interior
design circles and top design magazines. These are very cool finishes
but I can't use them in my regular workshops because of their cutting-edge
nature.
This class is for working professionals and there are no pre-requisites as most of the materials are not used in other classes. These are high-end finishes and faux finishes that can be tweaked many ways for custom work.
SilkStone by TexSton creates a metallic suede-like look and feel that has to be seen to be believe. Adicolor’s new Veli Velluti will let you create the look of copper velvet and shimmering satin with a material that actually responds to the hand. By layering these and other types of plasters you can create high/low, matte/shiny, smooth/rough contrasts that are very much in vogue with the high-end design market.
Synthetic plasters make dimensional techniques like ornamental
plastering, embedded leaves, ancient retro walls, venetian plaster
cascade are also incorporated into this class. You will be given
the keys to color and techniques that will save you months of experimentation.
Faux finishes are good but expand your expertise and go beyond faux
and include high-end decorative finishing as well.

Faux
painting and faux finish techniques have become synonomous so I
must use them as such for search engine optimization. My apologies.
Faux painting is not a phrase I like very much because I do not
consider myself to be a "fake" painter. I am a real painter
who can paint realistically. I will hold my nose and use the phrases
faux painting and faux painter down here where it will not be so
irritating.
