Learn some of the time-honored techniques of wood graining, also called faux bois as these techniques are true trompe l'oeil in that even at close examination, the illusion does not fall apart.
The class will undertake a detailed study of each real wood by breaking down individual components to better understand their nature. Emphasis is placed on composition and techniques, using both traditional and modern mediums.
Students are given hands-on instruction using a combination of European and North American techniques.
In Graining we will learn how to render Feather Mahogany, American Cherry and Satinwood inlay along with production techniques rendering oak and other quick graining techniques.
