This class combines practical color theory for painters and decorators with essential elements of design.
The most common problem we face in the decorating business is working
with a color that is just a little bit off. Wouldn't it be nice
to be able to adjust the color right on the spot rather than have
to run to the paint store for yet another quart of paint.
Learn the basics of mixing color using real, available pigments
and not just with theory. All hands-on.
One of the problems with with traditional color theory as taught in schools is that optical and graphic (RGB and CMYK) primary colors are used in demonstrations. This approach is fine for graphic design but not for interior design.
Color theory is taught at Dundean Studios from a practical standpoint where real paints and pigments like raw sienna and burnt umber are used and not just primary theory. Paint chemistry is also covered so one has a better grounding in modern technology. How to mix colors in transparent glazes is key for a successful decorative painting business.
After learning how to adjust and use all those quarts of colored
paint you have stored in the basement, you will learn the basics
of color design.
You will be shown the keys to color theory and where to find the colors in a room or house to reflect a customer's taste.
Learn the terminology to articulate interior design elements and how to work within your customer's color scheme when designing your custom sample boards and finishes. How and where to use complex colors
An invaluable course for professionals and amateurs. I will guarantee that this will prove to be one of the most useful courses you can take for your career in Decorative Finishing or Interior Decorating.
